Seeing this made me think about why this has become the new holy grail layout.
No one knows what the right interface for the LLM is. ChatGPT started with this template, and everyone seems to follow it now. It just works. We need to be more creative with generative interfaces.
Software is becoming more intent-driven, instead of showing complex navigation, multiple links and pages, we just tell it what we want.
The popularity of shadcn/Tailwind components has become the norm, with many products converging to look and feel the same in terms of typography, colors, and spacing. Adding complex layouts like sidebars, charts, and tables is easier than ever. Because it is the fastest way to have a design system than actually designing a new.
